for tomorrow in the case

The court complaint

Garnett will float 2026 budget with $27
property tax decrease from last year
BY DANE HICKS THE ANDERSON COUNTY REVIEW
GARNETT Garnett city
commissioners will submit
a 2026 spending plan to city
residents at an upcoming
public hearing that proposes some $1,500,000 in extra
spending for the coming
year but manages to hold
its mill levy barely below
the revenue neutral rate
defined by Kansas law.
The budget hearing set
for August 26th at 6:00 PM
at Garnett City Hall will
give the public an opportunity to question commissioners on various elements of the budget and
spending plans as so far
compiled. A budget summary in preparation for
the hearing was published
in the Anderson County
Review on the public notices pages.
Overall the budget calls
for a general spending plan
of some $17 million, up
from authorized spending
of $15.5 in 2025. The new
budget plugs an additional $762,000 into the cities
general fund for equipment
reserve, various insurance and personnel benefits. Still the mainstay of
those expenditures is paid
by user fees and the cities utility revenues, with
local property tax funds
amounting to only $1.2
million of the $17 million
overall spending proposal.
The property tax portion
of the 2026 budget actually reflects a $27 reduction

The mysterious lack of Kansas media
interest in Porfirio De La Cruz-Cantu
Statewide media can find
Garnett for other stories;
why not this one?
BY DANE HICKS
THE ANDERSON COUNTY REVIEW
GARNETT With high profile
cases of illegal immigrant crime
like the Rachel Morin murder in
Maryland still peppering national news reports in the post-Biden
border era, the lack of Kansas and
metro Kansas City media acknowledgment of assault and attempted
rape charges against Porfirio De
La Cruz-Cantu in Anderson County
has become curiously obvious.
In fact, if not for coverage in this
newspaper, a related online news
site and an Ottawa radio station,
there would have been no coverage
at all of the illegal immigrant who
a 64 year old victim says knocked
her from her bicycle on the Prairie
Spirit Trail north of Garnett in
SEE BUDGET ON PAGE 12
October 2024 and attempted to forcibly rape her.
While that blackout on the CruzCantu story continued, regional
media reports covering the hardships and challenges faced by illegal
immigrants since Trumps steppedup ICE enforcement began have
been numerous:
On July 30th KCTV 5 in Kansas
City covered Homeland Security
arrests of at least 11 people in immigration raids at KC area Mexican
restaurants, with eyewitness video
and follow up on detainees and community reaction.
On July 28th national public
radio affiliate KCUR headline the
story President Donald Trumps
immigration crackdown has many
recent immigrants terrified, detailing how recent rounds of enforcement have affected immigrant
neighborhoods and small businesses in Kansas City KS, along with
economic and social consequences.
In June and July, the Kansas
City Star ran a multi-part series
on the labor and industry impacts
of local immigration enforcement
along with law enforcement cooperation with federal agents, and
trends in local arrests and detentions tied to the administrations
enforcement push.
August 12, The Wichita Eagle
defined as Trumpism a bogus tip
from an anonymous member of the
public to the FBI alleging Lenexa
City Councilwoman Melanie Arroyo
was undocumented an allegation
quickly determined as unfounded
by authorities. Instead of noting
the systems success in confirming
Arroyo, the Eagle maligned the
resurgent enforcement effort: The
purpose of the Trumpist immigration system? Its to harass people
like Melanie Arroyo.
Though there has been no shortage of immigration coverage by
media serving Kansas, the story

Garnett to push November sales tax
vote for new pool, improvements
BY DANE HICKS THE ANDERSON COUNTY REVIEW
THE ANDERSON COUNTY REVIEW 8-14-2025 / JESSIE DUNCAN
Jazzy Duncan, Colby Mundell and Paislee Modlin revel in water sprayed by the Garnett
Fire Department during a break in the hot fun at the Garnett Area Chamber of Commerce
Back To School Movie Night at Mundells Pumpkin Patch on Saturday.
GARNETT Garnett City
Commissioners made their
first pitch to voters last
week for a voter approved
one cent sales tax to be
placed on the November
election ballot, aimed at
bankrolling a new city
swimming pool and a number of other city infrastructure projects officials say
have been languishing for
more than a decade due to
lack of funds.
City manager Travis
Wilson included a summary of the proposal of the
July utility bills recently
received in the mail by city
utility customers. The new
sales tax would primarily function as the funding instrument for a new
swimming pool, aimed at
replacing the 80 year old
pool in Lake Garnett Park
which has been the subject
of financial
and operational concerns for
the last several years.
The
possibility of a
new city sales
tax has been
discussed by
commissioners for more
than a year, since the expiration of a county sales tax
approved by voters to fund
the payoff of the Anderson
County jail gave city leaders what they believed to
be the flexibility to replace
that tax for city projects.
State legislators also finished a phase-out of sales
tax on groceries, which
might provide more leverage for an addition of a
higher local tax.
A year ago commissioners paid $7,000 for an
engineering study on the
swimming pool which
revealed the citys inability to meet the low to moderate income population
requirements that would
most likely prevent it from
being awarded much of
any grant construction for
a new facility. In 2022 a
new swimming pool was
estimated to cost $2.5 to
$3.5 million, prior to spiking inflation since then.
If the referendum for the
sales tax passes, the swimming pool project would

Colony Christian Church

Colony Christian Church
enjoyed its Annual Church
Family Campout at Melvern

week culminated in a worship service and potluck
Saturday evening after a
day of fishing, tubing, boating and jet skiing. A friendly game of volleyball ended
the evening.
Back in Colony on
Sunday morning Petra

"Good, Good Father," "What
a Friend We Have in Jesus"
and "Come As You Are."
The

given
by
Howard Reiter was "A Voice

Sheep follow their shepherd because they know his
voice. Christians follow the
Good Shepherd because He
protects and guides them as
they listen to His voice.
Pastor Chase Riebel
delivered a sermon titled
"Sing" from Ephesians
5:19. Music was originally
intended to worship the
Lord and bring us closer
to Him. Worship is in the
form of Psalms, hymns and
other spiritual songs. Psalm
147 tells us how good it is to
sing praise to our God with
Thanksgiving.

Garnett Mexican restaurant worker who worked
alongside his wife at a
now-closed Garnett eatery remained completely
unearthed by those outlets. Public court records,
including the probable
cause affidavit revealing
the specifics of his arrest
and an officers from the
alleged victim, are easily
available on the Kansas
courts website along
with dockets that follow
Cantus courtroom journey from first appearance all the way through
a scheduled three-day

September 24. Anderson
County Attorney Steve
Wilson, who took the
county prosecutor post in
January of this year, said
hes never had a media
inquiry on the case other
than from the local newspaper.
It took editors and
reporters no time to
recently
determine
Shawn Harris, the alleged
killer of Wyandotte
County Deputy Elijah
Ming, had been bounced
by the Anderson County
Court System previous
to Mings shooting at a
WYCO domestic incident.
Yet court records and
local media stories available on the world wide
web and on Facebook
and just as easily available never generated any
interest. The same publications and television stations joined a frenzy of
national reporting on a
story from Garnett when
this newspaper published
an anti-mask editorial cartoon in July 2020 during
the height of Covid cancel
culture hysteria, but still
the Cruz-Cantu rape allegation story from October
2024 was ignored.
In fact, the Review
reached out by email
to key editors at The
Associated Press in
Kansas, sister McClatchyowned publications The
Wichita Eagle and the
Kansas City Star and two
Kansas City television
stations for comments
on this apparent reporting blackout. We got no
responses.
Rebecca Schmoe, a
Republican representing
the 59th District in the
Kansas House, said the
dearth of coverage indicates major neglect by
those outlets. She said it
shouldnt take a social
media outcry as in the
case of Lake Riley to spotlight such crimes.
Victims
deserve
justice, Schmoe said.
Communities across the
state and nation rely on
clear, timely reporting
to stay safe. Transparent
reporting is vital to protect communities and prevent future violence.
Corporate media often
chase sensationalism or
political narratives, sidelining local tragedies such
as this, Schmoe said.
Cruz-Cantu is subject
to a hold by ICE, which
means the federal agency
will be notified in the event
he would be released from
the Anderson County Jail
for any reason, at which
time hell be taken into
federal custody. For now
the Mexican national
waits for his next day in
court; a Kansas element in
a historic national immigration story thats been
all but hidden from the
media spotlight.

Paul found the best
way and took it
Philippians is one of
Pauls prison epistles
written about A. D. 60 or
61. The apostle is writing to all the saints in
Christ Jesus at Philippi.
In Chapter 3 Paul lists all
the reasons he previously had for putting all his
confidence in the flesh.
It is quite an impressive list. However after
his conversion on the road
to Damascus he considers
his self-confidence as loss
not profit. In Philippians
3:13-14 he summarizes his
goal in life as follows: But
one thing I do: Forgetting
what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,
I press on toward the goal
to win the prize for which
God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Paul says he had to forget
what is behind. Not in the
sense he cannot remember
it but not to allow his past
to control his future. Satan
loves to use our past to cripple us. However a study
of scripture will show us
God forgives our sins. In
Isaiah 1:18 God is speaking
to the prophet concerning
what he is to tell the nation
concerning their sins.
Come now let us reason
together says the LORD.
Though your sins are like
scarlet they shall be white
as snow; though they are
red as crimson, they shall
be like wool. Dont allow
the weight of your sins or
current situation to dictate
your lifes path. If you are

faithful and just to confess
your sins God is willing to
forgive them. Paul says we
should be straining toward
what lays ahead. Straining
implies difficulty. One
of the things that makes
going along with the world
attractive is its very easy.
Instead of going in the
narrow gate and staying
on the straight path as a
Christian should we enter
the wide gate and use the
broad road going and doing
as we please. The difficulty
is in taking the path less
traveled.The world will
not release its grip on you
without a struggle. Paul
says we are going to have
to press on. Again implies
difficulty. But when we
reach this point the goal
is in site. We are saved
by grace alone, thru faith
alone, in Christ alone.
Paul came to recognize this
and accept it. Doesnt it
make sense for you and I?

OPINION
THE ANDERSON COUNTY REVIEW Thursday, August 14, 2025
Girls, get yourselves a military man
These days lots of women are asking a
burning if not hyper-subjective question:
Where are all the good men?
Not just rich guys, the girls say. The
lament goes deeper than a bank account
but comes up just as empty.
They want a guy that can work not
just hold down a job and be a provider for
a family, but a guy who can fix a toilet or
install a garbage disposal. A guy with at
least a rudimentary knowledge of the car
his girl drives and knows what a tire pressure gauge is for. A guy who can lead and
organize and show some independence
and some ability and knows how and
when to run a vacuum cleaner. A guy who
doesnt mind cooking.
Girls say theyre not finding these guys.
Girls say most guys in their 20s and 30s
(and God forbid, some even in their 40s)
have spent too much time being catered
to by their own helicopter moms while
theyre holed up in their parents basement eating Ramen and playing Fortnite.
I have an idea. Girls, start by looking
for guys whove spent a little time in a
military uniform. Not an avatar in a uniform, but the real thing with brass that
he shined himself and a pressed edge that
passed inspection.
Because regardless of the drastically declining level of participation from
American young men, the military services still offer a ton of value not just
in job training and experience but also
in advancing maturity and life skills
essentially, though its a boomer term
becoming a man.
But still, those pickings are slim.
After the draft ended, the all-volunteer
force was smaller relative to the U.S. population. In the 1970s1980s the Council on
Foreign relations says the active force
represented roughly ~1% of the U.S. population; today the active force is closer to
about 0.40.5% of the population. In 1980
roughly 18% of U.S. adults were veterans;
by 2022 that share had fallen to about 6%.
Nowadays military recruits still skew
young, but the pool is smaller. Most new
enlisted are still age 1724 and maybe
not in the marital pipeline yet, according
to the Department of Defense. Also the
number of enlistments and the size of the
entry-level workforce are down from past
decades, and military recruitment targets
have increasingly been missed in recent
years.
So girls, part of your problem in finding
a real man more like your dad and your
grandpa comes down to simple math. A
much smaller fraction of men aged 1830
serve in the military now than, say, in the
Vietnam/Cold War-era or even the 1970s
80s. Fewer serving means fewer learning
the lessons that only military experience
can deliver lots of them the same things
youre looking for in a man.
Whats worse, larger shares of youth
today fail to meet physical, medical, or
educational standards for military service. The DOD has repeatedly reported
high ineligibility rates. That means even if
Junior wants to cut moms apron strings,
theres a good chance he cant cut it in
boot camp. Too many years of inactivity
and potato chips.
But dont be despondent girls. Just add
prior military service a plus to your
online profile. ###

Sydney Sweeney: Americas most dangerous blonde
In a culture notorious for rewarding victimization, Sydney Sweeney is going viral
for symbolizing something weve all been
missing: sanity.
Shes not loud or radical, and shes not
trying to make a statement. But somehow,
just by acting normal, shes become one.
All she had to do was dress in head-totoe denim and lean over a car to make the
internet go absolutely bananas.
The campaign in question is a new
ad for American Eagle, and anyone who
spends any time on social media has certainly seen reactions to it over the past few
weeks. The ad is washed in soft nostalgia,
with a vibe including a gas station stop,
American denim, and a once-ubiquitous
girl-next-door look.
Sweeneys ad is like a love letter to
everything American culture supposedly
outgrew. And thats why people cant stop
talking about it.
The ad racked up millions of views
in days. Its the most viral moment of
Sweeneys career, even more than her
Emmy-nominated turn on the popular
HBO drama Euphoria.
In one of the ads, Sweeney says, Genes
are passed down from parents to offspring,
often determining traits like hair color,
personality, and even eye color. My jeans
are blue.
This messaging has led to absolute meltdowns by mainstream media and leftist
social media influencers, who insist the
Sweeney ads are nothing but Nazi propaganda. Backlash got so bad that American
NATIONAL COMMENTARY
AMANDA HARDING THE DAILY WIRE
Eagle responded, but instead of apologizing, they surprisingly doubled down.
Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans is
and always was about the jeans. Her jeans.
Her story, the company posted on their
Instagram.
Well continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence,
their way, the statement continued.
Great jeans look good on everyone.
The reaction has been telling. Fans are
celebrating the campaign as a breath of
fresh air its not just a fashion ad, its a
vibe shift. In an industry that runs on provocation, Sweeney is quietly proving you
dont have to reject femininity, tradition,
or wholesomeness to be relevant. You just
have to stop pretending youre above it.
That shouldnt be controversial. But in
Hollywood today, it absolutely is.
Sweeney grew up far from the glitz
of Los Angeles. She was born and raised
in Spokane, a small city in eastern
Washington, and comes from what the
media might call a conservative family
though Sweeney has never commented
on politics.
But she has alluded to them. Leftists
were furious in 2022 when she posted photos from her mothers 60th birthday party.
The pictures, which included a relative
wearing a Blue Lives Matter shirt and a
MAGA-style hat, sparked immediate outrage.
Sweeney didnt take the same path as
many before her by issuing a groveling
apology. Instead, she posted a follow-up
post on X saying, You guys, this is wild.
An innocent celebration for my moms
milestone 60th birthday has turned into an
absurd political statement Please stop
making assumptions.
That act of defiance, refusing to apologize, was rare enough. But its what
she hasnt done since thats even more
interesting. She hasnt become a political
mouthpiece. She hasnt branded herself as
anti-woke. Shes just stayed normal. And
for some reason, that drives people crazy.
Its rare to see a Hollywood star so universally embraced without selling a political message, trauma story, or carefully
calculated ideology. But maybe thats the
point.
Conservative commentator Megyn
Kelly summed up what many have been
saying on a recent episode of her podcast.

Democrats: Gerrymander for me, but not for thee
Lets take a tour of the 13th congressional district in Illinois. It starts in East
St. Louis and then moves steadily north.
By the time it gets to Springfield, home of
Abraham Lincoln, about 90 miles away,
it takes a sharp turn to the east, reaching
Decatur and finally Champaign, itself
about 80 miles away from Springfield.
Its a jagged, narrow strip of territory
with no obvious rhyme or reason as it
traverses six counties. Its less a congressional district than a road trip, and bears
a resemblance to the original gerrymander, a long, salamander-like state senate
district in Massachusetts in 1812.
The only point of the new 13th district lines, fashioned with the redistricting after the 2020 census, was to gather
together far-flung Democrats to create
another Democratic congressional district. Mission accomplished. The 13th
district went from being a competitive
district long held by a Republican to flipping to the Democrats in 2022.
Overall, Illinois lost one district after
the 2020 census and managed to draw
lines that changed the congressional
ratio from a 13-5 Democratic advantage
to a 14-3 Democratic advantage. The
political analysis website 538 called the
new map the worst gerrymander in the
country drawn by Democrats.
This makes it especially inapt that a

they consider unfair new congressio-

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker welcomed the
self-exiling Democrats and hailed their
courage. He told them that he and other
top Democrats in the state were pleased
to stand in solidarity with you and
send a clear message to all Americans.
His conscience showed no sign of being
pricked by the fact that he signed off on
the redistricting that saw Republicans in
2022 win nearly 44% of the popular vote
in Illinois congressional races and only
about 17% of the congressional seats.
A special session of the Texas legislature is considering new lines that
could net Republicans another five
seats. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has cited
a Department of Justice letter saying

that some of the current districts need
to be redrawn because they represent
unconstitutional racial gerrymandering
(the Biden Justice Department had been
fighting Texas because, in its view, the
current lines didnt reflect enough racial
gerrymandering).
The Supreme Court is taking up a
Louisiana case that should clarify the
extent to which states can consider race
in drawing so-called majority-minority
districts. In the meantime, the partisan effect of the new Texas lines before
the 2026 midterms is unmistakable. If
Republicans were likely to lose five seats
from the redistricting, theres no doubt
that the states Republican governor
and Republican legislature wouldnt be
undertaking it.
Drawing district lines is an inherently political enterprise, and parties
tend to give themselves the best of it.
When Democrats controlled the Texas
legislature, they maintained congressional lines in their favor. It wasnt until
Republicans won the state house for the
first time since Reconstruction in 2002
that the GOP could redraw the congressional map and Republicans subsequently won a majority of Texas congressional
seats in 2004, also for the first time since
Reconstruction.

Dig around old stone house

Historical gleanings from
past newspapers.
1885 – 140 years ago
August 14 – A large crowd was
present at the rink, Saturday night,
to witness the performance of Prof.
Kit McCullough, of Ottawa. Some of
his feats, especially that of jumping
over five chairs, were greeted with
loud applause. He was followed by
Prof. Kellogg, the Ft. Scott champion, whose grace and skill was heartily applauded.
August 14 – Since last weeks
paper appeared, two more cases of
child beating have been brought to
our notice; one east of the railroad
and the other in the western part of
the city. In one instance the neighbors threaten if it continues much
longer to call in the proper authorities and have the cruelty stopped
once and for all. There are also
vague hints of a liberal application
of tar, with a feather or two to make
it harmonize.

HISTORY

August 17 – Marshall Keeney yesterday morning arrested one of the
men who works on the pipeline for
being drunk. Last evening he was
fined $5 and costs and upon paying
the fine was turned loose. It seems
he was not through yet for this afternoon the Marshal found him drunk
and took him to jail once more.
August 18 – There is a case or

August 18 – L. D. Pilkington has
some mighty fine tomatoes in his
garden this summer. One of them is
on exhibition in the window at A. P.
Farris cigar store that would take
a blue ribbon at any fair. It weighs
exactly three pounds.

August 20 – Monday evening,
the Hamiliton Electric Incubator
Company began erection of a large
hatchery, 22×60 feet, near the present hatchery and electric incubator
factory on East Second. The new
hatchery will have a capacity of
100,000 eggs. The building will be
of hollow tile and cement, stuccoed.
This is one of the rapidly growing
industrial institutions of Garnett
and it has a great future. Four new
men were added to the force last
week, and others will be added as
soon as room for more is provided.
August 20 – Monday night, Lanes
drug store was visited by a thief,
who entered by breaking two rear
windows. Judging from the size of
one of the windowpanes, he must
have been a small chap. The thief
took a lot of pennies in the cash register but found no more money. He

16 – Garnett City
Commissioners broke with tradition
Tuesday night when they approved
a temporary beer sales permit for
the Anderson County Corn Festival-the first ever such permit to be
approved by the governing body.
The commissions action was a
departure from previous policy,
most notably a firestorm that pitted
local ministers against the Garnett

asked for a temporary permit to sell
beer at the 1989 Liberty Festival.

remain closed indefinitely, after
state health officials confirmed
what city authorities suspected.
Dangerous blue-green algae has
bloomed in the lake. The algae does
not affect the citys drinking water,
which is piped directly out of the
Cedar Valley Reservoir and bypasses Crystal Lake (commonly referred
to as South Lake.) Humans and pets,

HARDING…
FROM PAGE 4
Shes all woman, Kelly
said of Sweeney. She has a
great pair on her that would
be the envy of virtually
every woman, and theyre
obviously natural and so
shes in some ways, the opposite of a Kardashian, she
added. Shes petite shes
buxom, but theyre natural,
and her face is not overly
prodded or manipulated. She
looks normal. She looks like
just a pretty American girl.
Hollywood doesnt know
what to do with someone
like Sweeney because shes
not trying to be anyone else.
Shes not reinventing herself
for every season. Shes not
jumping on trends to stay
relevant.
It all speaks to a growing hunger for authenticity.
Its not the kind of curated authenticity influencers
serve up with a wink and
a sponsorship deal. People
want real. Theyre over the
Botox looks that have dominated for years.
Thats the sweet spot
Sydney Sweeney has managed to occupy.
Her critics dont know
how to handle it. Shes a
reminder that the pendulum
is swinging in the hearts
of viewers who are tired
of being lectured. Sweeney
isnt fighting that culture
war directly, but shes proving that jeans, normalcy,
and charm still resonate
with most of America.

ing against Texas. Pritzker
says he may redraw his
states lines, but this would
require gerrymandering
on top of his current gerrymander. California Gov.
Gavin Newsom is making
similar noises, but the
California map is already
tilted toward Democrats.
Republicans won nearly
40% of the congressional
vote in the Golden State in
2024, but only about 17% of
the seats.
If the Texas plan goes
through and all else
remains equal, the Lone
Star State will have about
the same partisan skew as
California.
Less gerrymandering
would be better rather than
more, but Democrats like
Gov. Pritzker, who blessed
his states meandering 13th
district, have no standing
to make the case.

Generosity and Possibilities Celebrated
at Generations of Giving Event
On August 2, the
Garnett
Community
Foundation proudly hosted
its Generations of Giving
celebration, honoring the
generosity that shapes our
community today while
inspiring investments for
its future strength.
The event, which took
place at Troyers Prairie
Gold, buzzed with energy,
inspiration, and a deep
sense of community. Board
President Bonnie Deiter
opened the evening with
a warm welcome, followed
by a delicious dinner and
compelling insights from
featured speaker, Steve
Alley, who offered a fresh
perspective on the transformative power of philan-
thropy.
Central to the evening
was a bold vision: a community empowered to
secure its future by investing in itself and building
lasting resources. The messages marked a significant
step toward realizing this
vision, to ensure our community has what it needs
to respond, grow, and lead
for generations to come.
A key highlight was
the announcement of the
Foundations upcoming
Generations of Giving

which launches September

BUDGET…
FROM PAGE 1
over taxes set to be used in
2025 $1,209,217 compared
to $1,209,190 in the coming
year.
The budget shows cuts
in the 2026 allotment compared to 2025 for Parkside
Place apartment buildings
#1 and #2 after maintenance investments made
this year, and an increase
of some $440,000 at the Park
Plaza North complex.
The cities assessed property valuation increased to
34.9 million from 33.4 million, reflecting the continued increase in values primarily among residential
properties subject to recent
years real estate market
increases. That assessed
value increase in the 2026
budget will allow a tax levy
cut to 34.646 mills, down
from 36.173 in 2025. The
citys revenue neutral rate
was established as 34.647
for this year.

A powerful 4-hour life & business seminar
Colorado
Springs &Area
begin in the fall of 2026 with
the goal of opening for the
2027 summer season.
Other items included in
the sales tax proposal are
enhancements to city sports
complexes to improve
drainage and the addition
of high performance turf to
reduce rain outs and extend
field life. Funds would
also be used to modernize
restrooms at Crystal Lake
and lake Garnett locations,
and add new playground
equipment, new electric
camping facilities to boost
park usage, LED lighting to encourage evening
events at the citys Go Kart
Sprint track and other park
improvements in picnic
areas pathway repairs and
outdoor facilities.
If approved the move
would boost the tax on
retail sales in Garnett from
8% to 9%, with the most
impact felt on higher ticket
items like furniture, major
appliances and automobiles. Farm equipment and
pharmacy prescriptions
are exempt from sales tax.
Wilson said the city commission had not yet determined if the tax would
sunset or expire after a
certain number of years, or
continue indefinitely.
